Cosmetic Procedures – The Making of a Smile

Lady's Island Dental offers a range of treatment options to make your smile strong, healthy, functional, and beautiful. Doctors Tristan and Angela Greenwalt create a relaxing environment with rewarding results!

(New!) ClearCorrect

ClearCorrect is the clear and simple way to straighten your teeth without wearing braces so you can show off your smile! Looking for an alternative to braces? ClearCorrect is the clear and simple choice. No wires. No brackets. Just clear, convenient comfort-every reason to smile

Tooth-colored Fillings

Traditional metal fillings are unsightly and, over time, can actually cause damage to the teeth they are intended to save. Thanks to technological advances, however, it is now possible to restore decayed teeth with a modern filling material that improves strength while maintaining a completely natural appearance. New composite fillings are made of a tooth-colored resin or plastic material that is bonded to the tooth, creating a durable, functional, and attractive solution to damaged teeth. So go ahead and smile…no one can see them!

Teeth Whitening

For individuals who desire a brighter and more attractive smile, teeth whitening may be a good option. Dentist supervised teeth whitening systems are an effective, safe, and lasting way to lighten most people’s smiles. For immediate results, Lady's Island Dental offers two-hour, in office whitening treatments. More subtle results can be achieved over time using take home bleaching kits. Both options can successfully remove yellow, brown, or orange stains that result from age, coffee, tea, or smoking. However, darker gray tones or antibiotic staining generally do not respond as well to whitening systems, and porcelain veneers and crowns do not whiten at all. Feel free to contact our office for an evaluation, and let Drs. Tristan and Angela Greenwalt determine if you are a candidate.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are an ideal solution for chipped, stained, or misaligned front teeth. Each veneer is created from a thin layer of porcelain and sculpted by our master ceramist to give you a breath-taking smile. The veneers appear completely natural and are extremely durable. To prepare you teeth for the veneers and prevent a bulky feel, Dr. Greenwalt removes a conservative layer of your tooth structure. The treatment can be completed in only a few visits, and with proper maintenance, the veneers can maintain their beauty for 15-20 years. To learn more about this option, schedule a consultation today!

Crowns, Onlays, and Inlays

For extensive concerns that cannot be concealed with veneers, or for damaged back teeth, porcelain crowns, onlays, and inlays are successful treatment options. A crown covers an entire tooth, protecting it from further injury, eliminating pain, and restoring function. In addition, crowns appear so natural that only your dentist will know it is not your real tooth. Inlays and onlays are similar to tooth-colored fillings, but they provide more support. Inlays lie completely within the tooth’s chewing surface, while onlays, or partial crowns, cover a larger area and treat cracked, broken, or worn teeth. To find out if you are a candidate for one of these treatment options, contact Lady's Island Dental. Drs. Tristan and Angela Greenwalt will be happy to find a solution that works for you!

Bonding

During the bonding procedure, a tooth-colored resin material is layered on top of your teeth and then sculpted to a natural, symmetrical shape. Bonding is used to improve the appearance of stained or misaligned teeth. It is a relatively simple procedure that provides immediate results in as little as one visit, and results can last for more than 5 years with proper maintenance.

Dental Implants

When you lose a tooth, the surrounding teeth begin to drift, moving into the gap created by the missing tooth and disrupting your natural bite. Over time, this can lead to further tooth loss and other problems. Dental implants are a predictable, stable, and long-lasting restoration option for individuals missing one or more teeth. The implant is a metal rod that is positioned in the jawbone as a replacement for the root of your tooth. Because the root is replaced, the implant prevents further bone loss, protecting your remaining teeth. The implant rod is capped by a natural-looking crown to improve appearance and eating and speaking ability. Doctors Tristan and Angela Greenwalt can examine your teeth and mouth to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants.

Placing dental implants is a very technical, team-oriented process. Lady's Island Dental relies on the expertise of their specialists to assist is the procedure to ensure that you have the best possible care throughout your treatment.

Fixed Bridges

Similar to a bridge crossing a river, a fixed dental bridge is anchored on either side and extends across the gap left by missing teeth to form a single, durable restoration that improves appearance and also protects surrounding teeth from shifting. Neighboring teeth are reduced to accommodate the placement of crowns, which are used to permanently fix the dental bridge into position. Our lab custom fabricates your dental bridge so that it looks and functions just like your missing teeth. The entire process, including the time needed to create the dental bridge, takes only two to four weeks and results can last for 8-10 years with proper care.

Braces

For patients with severely crooked teeth or a misaligned bite, braces may be the most effective solution. Doctors Tristan and Angela Greenwalt work closely with some excellent orthodontists to ensure you receive optimum care. However, not everyone wants to wait months or years to see improvement in their smile, and many minor concerns can be altered in as little as two appointments with porcelain veneers. During your visit, we can help you determine with option is best suited to your goals.

Periodontal

Advanced Antibiotic Gum Disease Treatment

\

Antibiotic treatment may be used alone or in conjunction with other treatment techniques to help destroy the bacteria that cause periodontitis and maintain your oral health to the best extent. When used alone, antibiotics may help conserve your gum tissues and avoid the need for scaling or surgery. Used with one of these methods, antibiotics can help prevent further damage. At Lady's Island Dental, we can examine the current condition of your teeth and gums and determine which treatment is most appropriate for you.

Preventative

Regular Check-ups and Professional Cleaning

Regular oral examinations are necessary to screen for potential problems and are designed to keep your teeth and gums strong and disease-free. In addition, professional cleanings and fluoride treatments can help maintain your smile's health and beauty. Our office utilizes advanced technology, including digital intraoral photography and laser cavity detection, to thoroughly examine your oral health and ensure that you receive the best possible treatment.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a preventative measure than can help protect your teeth from decay-causing bacteria. Typically applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, sealants are made of a plastic resin material that bonds to the grooves of the teeth and acts as a barrier. Because the back teeth are often the most vulnerable to cavities and other decay, the dental sealants are especially useful in helping you maintain the health and beauty of your teeth.

Nightguards

Teeth grinding, or bruxism, is a common problem that afflicts as many as 30% of adults. Grinding can eventually lead to more serious concerns, including damage to the teeth and supportive structures of the mouth. A nightguard is a simple solution that can prevent the long-term effects of bruxism and alleviate headaches and other discomfort associated with this condition.

Patient Education

We truly believe in the value of patient education. At Lady's Island Dental, we know that the more informed you are, the better choices you will be able to make and the more comfortable you will be throughout your treatment with us. Please contact us directly for more information.

Technology

Computerized Record Keeping and Patient Treatment Areas

Computerized record keeping and patient treatment areas make it possible to provide efficient, comprehensive dental care while maintaining the security of your personal information.

Digital Intraoral Photography

Our intraoral camera allows both patient and dentist to closely examine the inside of the mouth. The tiny device comfortably and conveniently makes it possible to assess the current condition of your teeth and determine what treatment might be appropriate for you. The digital photographs produced by the camera also aid in planning your treatment.

Laser Cavity Detection

The DIAGNOdent® is a powerful new laser used for early detection and diagnosis of tooth decay. The DIAGNOdent® makes it easier to find decay that may be hidden in the cracks and crevices of teeth. Earlier detection means less damage, pain, and hassle for the patient down the road.
